ABOUT SKP Animal Shelter
SKP Animal Shelter has been providing care to the abandoned animals for the past 15 years. SKP Animal Shelter was started by Lalita and Lohit (mother and son), using their own home as the care facility for the abandoned and stricken animals in Areangadi, Honnavar, India. As people started dumping puppies and kittens at their doorstep, eventually their home became too crowded with animals with virtually no room left for them to even sleep. A dedicated shelter became an urgent necessity, and a basic shed was built on a donated land. Currently, Lalita and Lohit do all the care work themselves with the help of one or two volunteers.
From past one year Balu Bhat has also joined the care work as a regular donor and provider of assistance for logistical/administrative matters. Please note, Balu Bhat, who lives in Australia, continues to be a regular donor and does not take any salary or commission for the work he does.
